Why have the monthly releases stopped. Yes, Yes, I know there is still continued development but, why has there been no release in 6 months? I have compiled some firmwares from the repo. There are some really cool features on the way. Why not release them? Stability? I don't buy that. If you are willing to put a custom firmware on your router, you are willing for some reduced stability. Also, the stability of the source code is solid. If everyone who wants a current version of the firmware has to compile it from source. People are going to go to a different firmware. I like the monthly release, and it's not like there is nothing to release. If you want to focus on stability? Take the Ubuntu model. Firmware 54 can be an LTS, and then a cutting edge firmware.

I'm guessing that lot's of stuff were being tested lately, like trying out flexible NVRAM spaces, IPv6 and also fast nat with CTF drivers. All these milestones were really unstable and in my opinion, does not justify a binary release that maybe more buggy than build 54.
I suppose because the firmware is FREE, and the developers work for FREE, there's really no obligation to release something, just for sake of releases. Bear in mind again that this is FREE, so people "going to a different firmware" doesn't mean anything to anyone. It just mean a lot personally to someone who is impatient and doesn't want to tinker with self-compilation.
I just say, compared to the current snapshot source to what is offered as a binary are day and night. Again, I do not get this stability argument. I have been running the snapshot firmware for months and they are just as stable as release 54 for me. I know this can very from person to person, but I fill the people who are willing to hack their routers are willing to fiddle with things and put up with scheduling a reboot once a week. I also do not get your "voluntary" argument. The developers are busy at work, the repo is busting with work and I appreciate all the work they do. I love tomatousb. Lets look at dd-wrt. Why do none of us run dd-wrt? It moves so slowly. Why do most of us run Linux? Its rapid development cycle and bleeding edge. Also, the documentation for self-compiling code is shit. Only experienced linux people can decipher what they are being told. I think it is time to move to toastman because he respects his community.
Teddy improves TomatoUSB, add bug fixes. Toastman then adds features on-top of TomatoUSB.
Teddy doesn't compile binaries = not respectable
Toastman compile the same binaries = respectable
This is funny.
I think that the firmware has, right now, a lot of elements of what one might call "maturity". It is not perfect, but it is full-featured (more so than just about all the rest), stable, does more than the router did as a stock box, … etc. It more than fulfills my needs.
As far as I'm concerned, there aren't a thousand (or hundred, or 50) different features that can be added in, without cluttering it. Personally, for me, any big additional features might even detract. (I was thinking perhaps a "Whining Blocker" could be added to the Access Restriction…).
I, for one, think what Teddy etal do is fully respectable, commendable, and cer tainly appreciated.
BTW, one can always, as with all open source stuff, make one's own home-grown fork of the project. Install git, the build-essential stuff, clone it, alter it, and … do something for yourself. One might want to have the serial-port/jtag stuff handy just in case you brick your own board.

David, I have to ask you why the anger and bad language? Why can't you make a simple request in a polite and respectful manner?
