First off let me say its great to have tomato usb working on my belkin f7d8302 v1 routers. I recently purchased 2 of them. Toastmans MOD is the only MOD i can seem to get working on these routers. The only problem i'm having is when i turn on the usb port it causes some of the services to stop working right. For example, i can't add a samba share or start dlna. The router still works and passes packets, i can ping the gateway. I can also see the drive mounted in the gui, and in /tmp/mnt If i try to do a reboot from the gui it dosen't reboot. The only way to stop a hang on reboot is to turn off usb in the gui then do a reboot command in telnet. After a few minutes it says "still running system reset" then reboots. If i reboot any of the 2 routers with the usb service enabled, the router won't finish booting and has an amber led (should be green after a reboot) I have to hard reset and reapply all settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Toastman keep up the great work!
Its great there is another MIPSR2 K26 USB router that could be supported in future (any web links for this?, closest seems to be F7D8302 Play N600 Wireless Dual-Band N Router?) - but right now it is not in the supported list:-
http://tomatousb.org/doc:build-types
which probably means there's no specific board detection and could be have a problem in GPIO (buttons/leds) switch port allocation etc. Incorrectly mapping the reset button, for example, can mean the router reboots instead of blinking an led!
Suggest you extract the CFE, which contains manufacturers nvram defaults and post somewhere, also review the use of gpio enable/disable poll as referenced many times by teddy_b on this site. A serial console bootlog is also a very useful tool to diagnose what is happening on boot-up.
It would also be a good idea for you to pester Belkin for a GPL release for this router, which could remove some of the guess-work - any comments on what features were available in original firmware?
I tried to edit this post to reflect the correct model number f7d8302 v1 but I can't edit the posting. Maybe one of the admins can do it for me so people searching the web can find the info. Thanks, again sorry for the goof up in the original post.
I seem to have the power - so all references corrected
I found another mod that will boot on this router. RAF1.28.8950 MIPSR2_RAF K26 USB VPN-BT It does exactly the same thing as toastmans mod. enabling the usb hangs some of the routers services. All leds appear to be working correctly, front panel led, wps button led, and rear usb is steady on and flickers with data transfers. reset button working correctly as well. Very strange as the rest of the router seems solid everything else is working perfect. I wonder if anyone else out there has experienced these issues.
mstombs thanks for fixing up the thread for me
Guys,
I removed references to Belkin support from the Wiki - none of the released TomatoUSB builds, including the latest build 54, support these models yet. When the next build is released, we can update the wiki accordingly. Referrals to "special test builds" and various mods from the "Supported Models" section is just too confusing…
Support for Belkin F7D3301/F7D3302/F7D4301/F7D4302/F5D8235v3 routers has been added to the git about a month ago - that's why it's in Toastman, RAF and Shibby builds, as they are using the latest git sources. One person reported in this thread that everything - including USB - worked ok on F7D3302. F7D8302 which is exactly the same as F7D4302, should work as well - but of course there could be some specific issues with this model.
@firmtech - it's not clear what exactly not working for you. What happens when you try to start Samba or DLNA? Did I understand you correctly that everything, including these services, actually works - but when you try to reboot the router it hangs? Are you sure it's not one of your USB drives that causes the issue - have you tested it with other drives?

i have to set Samba and DLNA prefs, then start Samba and DLNA before enabling the usb support in the gui. then those services work. although they won't restart. if i telnet and type "service samba restart" the terminal just scrolls ……. across the screen and never says "Done".
if i enable usb support first the services don't start. if i leave usb enabled and reboot the router it locks up, then have to reset the router and redo the params for ethernet, wireless and so on. if i disable usb it boots fine. i have tried it with no usb devices attached, with 4 different hard drives and 6 different usb thumb drives. with the same results on all. everything (except 5ghz) works perfectly without usb enabled. Thanks teddy.
