Hi folks, new here.
My setup: Asus RT-N16 behind Verizon Actiontec router(main router to internet).
I've been having problems with the Asus firmware in regards to it's FTP feature.
Found this site and will install TomatoUSB soon.
I was only able to access the files on my Lexar usb flash drive plugged in to the Asus from the web once.
I have portforwarding setup on the Actiontec pointing to the Asus.
I can connect via ftp and get a response from the Asus ftp server everytime but I don't get a directory listing.
I turned on the virtual server feature on the Asus and added port 21 pointing to the external ip of the Asus.
That only worked once, was able to get a directory listing and downloaded a sample picture on my smartphone and that was it.
I've read numerous post about people having problems with port forwarding on the Asus router.
Have the latest firmware installed.
My question is after installing TomatoUSB and hoping that my
FTP from wan will work, how can I get a secure connection
to my Asus ftp server like ssh tunneling for example or whatever will work.
If I'm not mistaken ftp connection to this asus is unsecured and passwords/file transfer can be stolen right?
Thanks for your help.
