Possible to create multiple TAP-win32 adapter V9 ?
I planned to test connecting to multiple OPENVPN server for load balancing?
you can create it by creating a batch file and using the following command multiple times
"C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\bin\tapinstall.exe" install "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\driver\OemWin2k.inf" tap0901
And then you can configure the adapter accordingly!
UUUUuuUuuuUUggggHGHHH, this helped SOOOO MUCH
I needed to connect to two connections simultaneously as a client with my OpenVPN setup. First roadblock was that I was using the same port (1194) for both connections. I had to comment out (#) the line 'nobind' in my ovpn file and replace it with lport XXXX where XXXX is an unused port (Note that this is allegedly NOT recommended, and I read that it in some way limits functionality).
I then ran into the issue that I didn't have enough available TAP adaptors. All documentation and googling indicates I should run:
tapinstall install OemWin2k.inf tap0901.sys
in my C:\yattayatta\OpenVPN\drivers directory. But no dice, I get the generic "tap failed" error. Running 'cmd' as an administrator, the details are a bit juicier:
Device node created. Install is complete when drivers are installed…
Updating drivers for tap0901.sys from D:\Work\OpenVPN\driver\OemWin2k.inf.
UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices failed, GetLastError=259
Which apparently means that a tap adaptor with that name already exists or something to that extent.
Long story short, I ended up typing the same line without the '.sys' just now and it worked like a charm:
tapinstall install OemWin2k.inf tap0901
Many many thanks for helping alleviate this headache! I haven't done too much solo troubleshooting of network issues, and this helped out a lot!
