thanks for the response. my point is, i dont want optware, i just need the ipkg installer. i previously had openwrt installed, and i prefer to select the binaries that are installed on my router instead of the pre-packaged bunch that appear to come with optware. the only mention i have found of ipkg seems to be when referencing the optware package, so im wondering if theres another way to get ipkg other than optware.
regarding the ipkg / opkg topic, that link you provided was the same one i had read, and my concerns were over the following:
The reason for creating opkg was that ipkg was an effectively a dead end project (not dead, just a dead end).
seeing as i just loaded this cool new firmware on my new router, i felt it would be fitting to install the latest package installer (opkg).
