Thanks for all the help already (I've been forum diving a bit lately). I thought I would see if anyone can assist me with my current issue:
I have 2 ASUS RT-N16's that I purchased intending to use a bridge. I need the link to be pretty quick, so want to use N-only. As I understand, for proper speed, I must use AES or no encryption (and of course, I would like my traffic encrypted).
I flashed both with the latest TomatoUSB VPN package, and each works fine. I testing bridging simply using "Auto" for the wireless flavor, and it worked fine using WPA2 Personal with AES. Transmission speeds varied greatly, and were often poor (under 1 MB/s, occasional bursts to 3-5MB/s). I figured as much (I am testing in a location with a lot of interference from nearby radios). As a side note: why can I not choose a channel under 5?
So then I renamed the SSID, changed the PW, and went N only, and could not get the routers to bridge. So I removed encryption, and sure enough, I am seeing ~7MB/s sustained transfer rates.
Here is the rub: if I enable WPA2 Personal with AES while set to N-only, the routers will not bridge. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
