Problem - Everytime I reset the router I cannot remote WOL (WOL from my iPhone over 3G) my PC unless I turn it on first, the address then gets put in the arp table, after which I can use WOL remotely.
I am not positive it is due to the arp table, but it would make sense? Looking at the WOL page on tomato, it only shows my PC as "Active in ARP" after my PC has been turned on once before. After which I can WOL the PC over my phones 3G network.
Why? I always turn my router off when I go to bed, and turn it on in the morning. I don't always turn the PC on though. However if I then want to WOL > VNC remote, when I am at work I would be unable to unless I turned the PC on/off before I left.
Basically, I need a set of instructions or a command line/script to insert an active arp entry so that when I ask the router to wake my PC's MAC address it always knows which PC that is.
If it isn't the ARP table that is at fault please suggest otherwise.
I use an app on my iPhone which sends a magic packet with the MAC address labled. The destination address is then the ISP modem, which then forwards it to my router. Upon this happening the router should forward it to the correct MAC address, but it only does this if the PC has been switched on before hand.
