It would be incredibly useful to be able to use TomatoUSB devices connected to USB for upstream WAN.
Use case: Connect router to usb-tether compatible Android device on 3G or 4G network.
For example, at this moment I'm posting this on my Ubuntu laptop connected via USB to my Motorola Droid running CyanogenMod, using USB tethering. Ubuntu sees the USB connection transparently as a network connection, using the rndis_host driver, and immediately connects in the same way that it does via Ethernet.
Is rndis or cdc ethernet over USB support something that can be added to TomatoUSB to supply this functionality? I have been given to understand that both modules are already in the kernel sources.
More info that might be helpful, on the several different USB networking modules… page is old though: http://www.linux-usb.org/usbnet/
