Was running stock firmware relatively problem free until yesterday. Kept getting a 'you have incorrectly set your dynamic or static IP' message and could not get around it. Provider is cable and nothing in the firmware was altered. So it was the impetus I was waiting for to try DD-WRT or Tomato.
I followed the install method of installing DD-WRT before Tomato. I figured I wanted to end up at Tomato but figured I'd see the former first.
Install seemed to go fine, DD-WRT loaded fine and I could connect with no problem. But I never was able to get it to get a WAN IP. Frustrated and with limited connectivity I decided to plow through and went to Tomato. Again, install went smoothly, UI is nice but the same problem has occurred. I have tried every suggested resolution I could find - power cycling modem and router together and seperately, shutdown, holding down restore for 2 seconds and release-renew-release-renew.
Modem works fine and is set up with an ancient Netgear that I can drop in in the mean time.
Is there something I'm missing? Would a fresh install do the trick or is this the same problem the stock firmware suffered? I have not called my ISP as the issue is clearly on my side of the wall.
Thanks for your help. Hopefully I can join you all in enjoying what seems to be a great device made really great.
