I have two RT-N16 routers running TomatoVPN v1.28.9052. I cannot get WDS to work using WPA2 (not my primary concern) or 40 MHz Channel Width.
So, in order to use bridging, I have both routers setup to use "Auto" (for 802.11n/mixed) and a channel width of 20MHz. I don't really need the speed for the WDS, but I'd like the access point to be able to achieve 300Mbps, so I'd like to set the channel width to 40MHz. Unfortunately, WDS bridging does not work when I do that.
At some point I thought maybe I could force WDS over 802.11g (seems technically possible) and only use 802.11n for the access point functionality of the master router. I did this by setting wireless network mode to "Auto" on the master router and 802.11g-only on the WDS slave.
So, I would be happy with any solution which allows me to use the 40MHz width for my Access Point wireless and use WDS bridging (either bridging with 40MHz or bridging with 802.11g and AP with 40MHz 802.11n).
Thoughts? Either of these things possible?
Thanks.
