Hello! I've decided to make a post here because I've been pulling my hair out over this issue. I'm not sure if it's a settings issue or some sort of bug (I hope not).
My current network setup: A WRT54GL upstairs running Tomato is my main router (running a G only network). A WRT54G v6 running DD-WRT is downstairs in Client Bridge mode serving the older non-wireless computers downstairs. I just bought a new Asus RT-N16 router and would like for it to be in another part of the house. I have no wires running so I need wireless and I'd like to stick with Tomato.
With no modem connected, I installed the latest TomatoUSB (tomato-K26-1.28.9052MIPSR2-beta23-Std). Got everything running and switched the mode to Wireless Ethernet Bridge. Saved settings and the router will not connect to the network at all. The Wireless LED on the router keeps blinking.
Things I have done:
Changed to TomatoUSB Ext version -> doesn't connect
Tried just "Wireless Client" instead of Bridge -> doesn't connect
Changed firmware to DD-WRT and duplicated the settings from my WRT54G v6 -> Works
Changed back to TomatoUSB -> doesn't connect
Set router as an AP -> Radio works and I can connect to the Asus so I know radio isn't broken
As "Wireless Ethernet Bridge", unchecked "use internal DNS" -> doesn't work
Removed all wireless security from main router -> doesn't work
Checked "Use user-entered gateway if WAN is disabled" -> doesn't work
Set as AP, changed the channel to same as main router and changed back to WEB -> doesn't work
I've just done a thorough clean of NVRAM. Right now, my settings are:
Router IP address: 192.168.1.3 (main router is 192.168.1.1)
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Wireless mode: Wireless Ethernet Bridge
Wireless Network Mode: Auto
SSID: Same as main router
Security: WPA2 Personal, TKIP/AES, password is the same
Use internal DNS: unchecked
Routing Mode: Router
RIPv1 & v2: Disabled
DHCP Routes: unchecked
Spanning-Tree Protocol: unchecked
Does anybody have any ideas on what the issue could be? Pictures? Direction? I'm stumped because it works in DD-WRT and there is another router not two meters away that is connecting just fine (running DD-WRT though). I can make a backup of the config file and post it if that would be easier for everybody.
Thanks in advance.
