I am using an ASUS WL-520gu with build 49 and am getting a Netgear WNR3500L pretty soon. Is there an easy way to transfer all my settings (mainly static DHCP, VPN) to my new router?
I am in exactly the same situation. When I migrated from WRT54G to WL-520, I couldn't import the exported settings from one to the other because tomato complained about the binary file format or something like that. I am waiting for my WNR3500L to arrive soon and would like to avoid copying all settings manually.
How about using "nvram export —set" on the old router to generate a script that you can execute on the new router? I found this command usage in the other thread: Request for features: QoS only back-up/restore config
A quick glance at the output shows that it is possible, except that we might have to filter a few parameters out such as those related to manufacturer. I searched for "asus" and found the parameters "t_model_name", "lltd_device_name", "wsc_mfstring", "wsc_device_name", "asus_mfg", "asusddns_tos_agreement", "asus_mfg_flash" and "asus_mfg_webcam" as potential candidates to leave out. May be there are other settings that we need to look for that shouldn't get moved over. Any input from others on this method?
