ver: Tomato Firmware v1.28.9048 MIPSR2-beta18 K26 USB vpn3.6
router: ASUS RT-N16
I'm trying to figure out a file sharing config that works. I have a USB drive plugged into the router, shared via samba, mounted on an Ubuntu box using smbfs/cifs. Basic read access seems to be going well, but I'm having write trouble with file permissions and attributes.
For example, even with parent directory permissions of 777, only root can create a file or directory. E.g., on the linux box:
$ touch test
touch: cannot touch ‘test’: Permission denied
$ sudo touch test
$ ls test
Also, not even root can chgrp or chown anything; e.g.:
$ sudo chgrp media test
chgrp: changing group of ‘test’: Not a directory
Lastly, apparently chown/chgrp are not included in the busybox provided, which makes this trickier. Any suggestions? Maybe I should try NFS?
