So, I am happy to use the router as my WINS server… So I enable WINS by checking the box. Cool. But when I get a DHCP address from the router, I am not told a WINS server.
So I enter my router's IP into the WINS server address in the router's basic config, but this turns off WINS! When I go look at the config I see the checkbox to enable WINS is disabled and not selectable. And WINS is NOT working on my network.
Changing the WINS address back to 0.0.0.0 allows me to turn WINS back on. And if I add the WINS server to my TCP/IP properties on the client PC, then WINS does work.
It seems like a bug that when you enable WINS in the router it does not tell DHCP clients to come to the router for WINS? It should, shouldn't it?
Thanks for an awesome build of Tomato. With USB and VPN does it all!!
