My router is ASUS RT-n16, I installed the FW from beta05 to beta 14, all of them have the same problem. When there is someone open P2P in LAN, such as BT, emule, PPS….etc, I can NOT login WOW ( an online game), but no this problem in the other OLG. It always stop at "login successful" but can not enter in character select screen. When I close all P2P , wait for 5~10 minutes, or reboot router, then I can log in WOW, does anybody know how to solve it? thanks in advance.
Not sure what the exact problem could be but it sounds like a couple of things could be going wrong here.
1. Your P2P clients could be set to use a massive amount of simultaneous connections which would increase their download speeds but kill your network at the same time.
2. You don't have any limits set up in your clients on the amount of bandwidth they are allowed to use. (This should always be done)
3. You don't have QoS set up on your router or not set up properly.
These are just some of the possible causes and to address them you can try the following.
For #1. Decrease the amount of simultaneous connections allowed. For example if you used uTorrent as your client you would go to (Preferences > Bandwidth > Number of Connections > Global maximum number of connections) and set it to around 300 - 500.
For #2. You need to make sure that you set rate limits in your clients for the max amount of bandwidth they are allowed to use. Upload speed is the biggest impact you'll see to your network from most BT clients. For example if you were using uTorrent you would want to go to (Preferences > Bandwidth > Global Upload Rate Limiting > Maximum upload rate) and set it to about 100. (this of course depends on your connection's upload speed to begin with.
For #3. You could set up QoS to insure that WoW traffic has priority on the network. At the same time you should probably set your P2P traffic to have the least priority. To do this you would need to set up classification for the ports they use. This would be under (QoS > Classification). Set up any traffic coming off your P2P ports to have the lowest priority and WoW ports to have the highest priority.
Here is a site with some information on some WoW ports.
It's possible that none of this could help your issue at all but it's a good place to start I think…
