I have been using tomato 1.27 on my ASUS WL-500gPV2 for some time now, I recently tried an external hard drive and I'm happy to say that it is recognized and mounts without problems. I can use the said drive with samba file sharing, but I would like to use FTP to access the drive. As I said, samba file sharing is flawless, I enable it, reboot, and I can use the share on my XP machine connected through a wireless access to the ASUS router. When I enable the ftp server, I'm assuming that I should be able to access the drive by simply ftping to my router address (ie: ftp://192.168.1.1) like the original ASUS firmware used to, but I cannot establish a connection, what am I doing wrong? Is there a specific ftp address I have to use? Connected through an access point upstairs to the ASUS router running latest build of ND with USB and Extras in the basement. Able to use samba without problems, can't ftp.
As long as your drive is mounted properly and all of your settings are correct you should be able to get to it just as you stated. Go to ftp://192.168.1.1 and it should prompt you for user and pass.
Are you getting a particular error when attempting this?
