I got everything working for the Spin Down USB Disk tutorial, however, the files at the bottom are giving me 404 errors. Does anyone have a new link to them?
Thanks.
Anyway we could have USB disk spin down as part of the base with menu option to turn on/off?
I'd also like these files. Could someone re-post? (perhaps send them to a free download site)
I'm sorry; I'm the author of that tutorial, but it is currently incomplete. I hope to have time to fix it in the next few days, and upload the final version of the scripts.
i really need this soon.
thanks

It doesn't work on a lot of USB drives. Not all the chipsets support the spindown command. IIRC, the Genesis chipset doesn't, and that's the one that many many of the USB drive adapters use.
I solved the spin-down problem with buying this HDD-case:

it was about 12 USD, and it spins down your HDD automatically after 10minutes of inactivity. very very convenient, and no scripts required at all! However, you can't adjust the time of 10minutes.
Looking forward to this feature when its completed. Thanks a lot for your effort Rasky
