from what i've read about this there are a few ways of using webcams with USB routers.
there's a guy @ dd-wrt that did a build for the older webcams but I'm looking for K26 & UVC.
the webcam module i'm interested in is mjpg-streamer.
i keep waiting for some nice person to build a firmware package with all the
webcam stuff built in
here's a link that uses the mjpg-streamer package. check out his example

like i said, i'm lazy but i did try a good UVC webcam with mjpg-streamer on my ubuntu 10.04 server and WOW
i used a logitech pro 9000 camera running @ 640 X 480 and can get from 15 to 20 fps as an IP cam
i got this using mjpg-streamer on a command line and then pulling that camera into my Zoneminder camera server
what makes this great is that once you get it going you have a high quality IP cam for less than 200 dollars
using WiFi you could put them anywhere in your house like the Bridged IP cam i have @ the 2nd fwindow
mjpg-streamer has it's own built web page also so you don't need zoneminder.
