I've been testing tomato 1.28.0000 -3.4-138 K26ARM USB AIO-64K for a month. My wireless speeds top out around 20-40mbps at best on the strongest channels. I am only using 2.4Ghz N mode only with 20 MHz . WPA2 TKIP/AES. Are these normal speeds for the R7000 w/t Tomato. I have a few laptops and and a Samsung s4. They all seem to top around the same speeds. With my old busted Dlink dir 655, I was getting higher numbers in N mode. For example with the Dlink, I would top out around 60-100mbps with my laptop and around 60mbps on my phone. This is the performance I'd get standing in front of routers. Are these the typical speeds folks are seeing using tomato on the R7000? I know folks may have different results based on their network layout but I thought I was see numbers close to 8 year old DIR 655. I get about 180 down and around 30 up. Any thoughts, should I use a lower firmware or everything seems about right?
