A small backstory.. I have been using my Asus RT-N66U for years now and it's been fantastic. I started out with feeling a bit limited so I installed merlin's firmware. From there I wanted to create a guest network and better QoS settings so I switched over to Shibby Tomato. Well it's been about 3 years with Tomato and I think I've finally 'outgrown' it. Don't get me wrong, it's been a fantastic time with Tomato, but my network has grown a lot since I first got the router so I decided to switch over to PFSense.
Anyways, I still have my RT-N66U installed with Shibby Tomato (v138). I want to use it as just an Access Point for wifi so after a bit of searching, it seems I should just reflash to wipe everything, then disable WAN and the DHCP server. I read that with the original Asus firmware, switching to AP mode turns the WAN port into a regular LAN port. Would it be the same on Tomato?
I've also had a few bugs/problems with v138. Maybe it's the way I set it up (I was in a rush this install), but what firmware version would be known as rock solid for just using it as an AP?
