Huawei 4G router was setup with the Tomato Asus N16 giving access to the internet from separate locations in the house. An ethernet connection was used over a phone line crimped with RJ45 connectors because of wifi interference when anything passed across wifi path. Everything was fine except the occasional 4G modem dropping signal (ISP issues) and/or N16 restart due to may be overload or small quirks like no proper hand shake after some time . A bit of annoyance so I thought of getting another Asus router AC56R to help the 4G modem and relay the internet to the N16. Tried different configurations moving the modem and router around to see if it was the phone line and it's not. I'm running Linux Mint 18. Let's call the locations A and B.
Loc A 4G modem to Loc B N16 and AC56 works even when the locations are switched.
Loc A 4G modem LAN to WAN or LAN AC56 to Loc B ethernet connected to LAN or WAN N16 nothing,
Loc A 4G modem LAN to WAN or WAN N16 to Loc B ethernet connected to LAN or WAN AC56 nothing.
What I need is to relay internet from the 4G modem through either one router in the same location A, to the other router in location B by an ethernet cable.
Thanks for any input.
