I've been bashing my head against my desk for days (probably not a good thing) trying to get my network configure using my new Netgear R7000 router.
I don't know the correct terminology but here is what I'm trying to do:
2.4ghz and 5ghz WLAN along with LAN ports 1-3 all on the same Broadcast Domain and under the same DHCP server provided by the router. They need acces to the WAN for Internet.
Now the apparently tricky part, I want LAN port 4 to work with the WAN port like they were in a switch together. I want all devices on LAN port 4 to use the DHCP server provided at the other end of the WAN cable, i.e., my ISP dhcp.
Described a different way, I would achieve the same effect if I purchased a simple switch and had three ports used, one for the WAN, one for the r7000 router, and one for what I'd like to use port 4 for.
Clear as mud? I know a VLAN should be able to do this but I'm at a loss.
