So my end goal here is to get a program installed to reduce bandwidth usage and speed up repeated loading of videos, audio files etc. I believe optware and squid are my best option for this.
I'm sorry - I know there are like 7 optware installation tutorials on here but I think many are now out of date.
I started attempting to install optware using the tutorial by teddy_b which was last modified 23 Apr 2011 and does not work for me. (… tut:optware-installation)
There is the more detailed tutorial by Eded which is a bit older actually 16 Jan 2011. (… tut:how-to-set-up-nas-optware-etc-for-total-noobs)
Going through the forms I found several others
The last site clued me into an external tutorial.

Where I was greeted with an explanation:
## Note. This is generally depreciated in the sense that since version 116. the entware-install.sh was coded into shibby firmware. (install link directions gist.github … /dferg/833aade513965d78b43d but I have not verified however I think most apps should work now since it's been several months. If a package you absolutely need doesn't work quite right than you can use optware-install.sh which has been coded since v111. Files were located at /usr/sbin I am not using optware or entware since my router can utilize the AIO build but if you have an older router I would probably go back to optware since i'm familiar with it. ###
So basically there are two competing software packages which are not interchangeable and cannot be installed at the same time.
I'm a bit confused as where to go and how to proceed atm. It's looking like the last tutorial is probably my best shot, however it is still rather dated given that it is from April 28th, 2012.
Would anyone have some guidance or updated tu
