I have a fairly simple network here I'm trying to setup for a friend. Long story short, I have a DSL wireless modem/router setup on 192.168.0.1/24 broadcasting on a WPA-Personal/AES AP.
I have no problem getting every device on this network. Now, I need to get a small house about 200ft away on the network.
(I first tried this with a engenius 3500 on repeater mode which didn't work reliably as packets were dropping like flies)
I have Tomato Shibby "1.28.0000 MIPSR2-132 K26 Max" running on a Linksys e1200. I know this router is a POS but please bear with me.
Here are the steps I used:
1) Restore the default config (using Administration -> Configuration -> Restore Default Configuration -> Restore default router settings)
2) Set my Basic -> Network settings.
WAN / Internet:
Type: DHCP
LAN:
br0: 192.168.1.1 DHCP enabled (default settings and the PC on LAN3 gets an IP on the 192.168.1.1/24 subnet)
Wireless:
All set as all the client machines connecting to the DSL router.
3) Can't connect outside the subnet
Status -> Overview:
Ethernet ports state:
Everything inactive except LAN3
WAN:
Everything zeroed out and the Stats says "Renewing…" I have no earthly idea if this is supposed to represent the wireless network or the unplugged WAN port, however the MAC does match with the Wireless MAC (albeit with upper case instead of lower case). The DSL/router shows all the regular client devices on the network, but does NOT show the e1200 (all ID'd by MAC address).
LAN:
Only part of the router that is working
Wireless:
All the settings are correct, but it doesn't actually signify whether or not it is connected to the AP. Thus I have no idea if the problem is wireless-related or IP-related. I consider this to be a bug, quite frankly.
Anyway, I would early appreciate some input as I've been butting my head against this for a while now with no signs of hope.
