Hi,
I have many connections to my servers at home configured in our mobile devices (Notebooks, IDevices etc.) to use my domain name which points to my fixed IP address. In my Tomato router (RT-N66U, Shibby build) I have set the NAT loopback to "Forwarded only". If I'm not at home, the devices will be NATted by forwarding to the appropriate server; if I'm at home in my WiFi Tomato will use the NAT loopback for these connections.
My problem is that in case my internet connection is down (PPPoE) the NAT loopback will not work. Technically there is no reason for this as the loopback should happen inside the router and it will not be looped out into the internet and back again. But why does this not work with the WAN PPPoE being down?
Is there any configuration I can provide in IPTables etc. to have the NAT loopback also working if the PPPoE link of the WAN is down? I guess the missing WAN-IP with PPPoE down can be the problem…?
Thanks for any ideas!
