I am a bit ashamed with the background that I have in networking to say that I appear to be a complete noob when it comes to Shibby's Tomato firmware for Linksys E3200.
My ASUS RT-N66U died, and I thought I was golden while I waited for my replacement to incorporate my freshly flashed Linksys E3200 with Shibby's Tomato firmware. So I set forth to plug in the cables, set the IP address for the LAN … and no internet.
I have Comcast internet, who at this time provides a DHCP access to the web. I can see in the Overview that the connection is established, however there is no internet connection to my home network at all.
In the area where you setup WAN, there is a section that asks for the modem IP address, and displays that 0.0.0.0 disables it. By default 0.0.0.0 is input in that field, and since I cannot get an internet connection I'm thinking the culprit in there.
I am assuming that the modem IP is the public IP address? If it's a DHCP connection why do we need that?! Or if I am totally bonkers, please tell me what I'm doing wrong and how I can finally start using this awesome firmware.
