My RT-N16 started behaving strange yesterday with random restarts. It had worked for several years with no problem, and I hadn't changed any settings in months.
I of course thought it was broke, but I tried turning of all the fancy stuff like external HDD, Torrent, etc. and restore it to a plain router. This did not help.
I wanted to see what was going on so I turned USB support back on and connected my external HDD and asked syslog to log to /opt/var/log/messages on the external drive instead to see what was going on between random restarts. I had many random restarts yesterday, from 5 minutes to 1,5 hour, but the log never logged any sign of troubles, only it's usual stuff about me logging in and out of ssh, and clients requesting the DHCP server about an IP's etc.
So as a last resort I did a throughout reset of the NVRAM and restored the settings from my documentation. It might be to early to say, but it has worked perfectly the entire day!
Any thoughts? Is this normal or should I be on the lookout for a new router?
