in the past few days my wireless speed has been getting slower and slower for no apparent reason. I am on a 20mbps connection, few days ago I was getting about 7mbps download. at first I thought it was a problem with other users on the network so I messed around with QoS for a bit and set my computer's IP as the highest with max bandwidth of 17mbps, I started getting 17mbps so I thought it was fine. but today suddenly my speed dropped to 3mbps, when NOBODY else was on the network!
I tried turning QoS off, it didnt change anything.
I tried changing channels, changing channel width, rebooting router, nothing worked. could it be there are other devices in the building causing interference in all channels?
when I connected to the router with ethernet cable, I was getting 20mbps, so it's not a problem with isp, just wireless. I tried speedtest on a different computer and it seems to be slow too.
I tried reinstalling my wifi adapter's driver, it did not help and seemed to make it worse, my speed is now 1mbps or less. (not sure if the driver is the cause)
I'm using netgear WNR3500L v2 router, windows 7 64bit
what is going on?
edit: I am using WPA2 + AES so I dont think anyone is stealing my bandwidth.
